The oldest building in Kleinburg is the location of The Doctor's House restaurant and dates back to 1867. The first new subdivision was added in the 1950s.

Kleinburg was founded in 1848 by John Nicholas Kline, who lent his name to the original title of the community, the "Village of Klineburg". Back then, the town's economy was based on wheat and flour processing but soon developed into a tourist destination due to its serene atmosphere and charming aesthetic.

McMichael Canadian Art Collection - A gallery dedicated to Canadian artists, featuring a number of works by the famous Group of Seven. The gallery itself is an attraction, with beautiful architecture and expansive grounds that are used to display some of the gallery's sculptures.
Copper Creek Golf Club - One of the best golf courses in the Greater Toronto Area and open to the public. This golf course is a great way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Kleinburg.
Bindertwine Festival - A unique and historic festival, including many events and attractions. Look out for this one at the beginning of September.
The Humber Valley Heritage Trail - Excellent hiking through the woods surrounding Kleinburg.
Kleinburg also hosts the Cinespace Film Studios and has been the location for a number of local and international film productions
